The title of his talk is taken from his new book, published this July. It refers to ecological waste but also the accumulation of life’s experiences and how we as individuals handle them. This follows his earlier book Planetwise, subtitled Dare to care for God’s world (Inter-Varsity Press, 2008).

Dave Bookless is Director of Theology, Churches and Sustainable Communities at A Rocha, where he was National Director 2001-2008. A Rocha—Portuguese for The Rock—is the international Christian nature conservation organisation which operates in 18 countries.

Dave Bookless grew up in India and says he has been a teacher, debt collector, vicar, lecturer and barman. He has an international speaking and writing ministry. He is a member of the Church of England’s Mission and Public Affairs Council, and Moderator of the Environmental Issues Network of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland. ‘I love wildlife, poetry, small islands, bird-ringing, and seek with my family to live sustainably in urban Southall,’ he says.
