Volunteering Weekend in Ukraine

The 5th of December is the International Volunteer Day (IVD). This year Foundations for Freedom became the supporters of the International Volunteer day in Ukraine. It is launched by the UN Volunteers. Every year, volunteers all over the world celebrate this event in different ways: rallies, parades, community volunteering projects, environmental awareness, free medical care and advocacy campaigns are all prominently featured on IVD. The ultimate aim of this day is to recognize the efforts of volunteers and increase public awareness of their contribution to society.

IVD in Ukraine

In Ukraine, the IVD celebrations will take place over the weekend of the 4-5th of December. During this weekend, we are planning to organize small volunteering actions all over the country. The actions will be set up by civil society organizations, youth centers, civic associations and NGOs and then advertised online in a common space in order to attract more volunteers and receive a broader coverage by media. All the proposed events will be published online and volunteers will be able to subscribe to these activities all throughout the country.

The call for action

We kindly invite you and your organization to become a part of the IVD 2010 Volunteering Weekend by planning a volunteer action for the 4-5th December 2010.

Volunteerism has a broad range of activities and volunteer organizations have different focuses, therefore, we encourage the organization of all kinds of volunteer-involving events. Informational support of actions conducted within the framework of Volunteering Weekend will be provided.
