De Nederlander Paul van Tongeren presenteerde een workshop over ‘Infrastructuur voor vrede’. Hij gaf als voorbeeld twee landen die een dergelijke infrastructuur tot stand gebracht hebben: Ghana en Kenia. Geholpen door burgerinitiatieven en de landelijke en plaatselijke vredesraden heeft Ghana grootscheeps geweld kunnen voorkomen tijdens de laatste verkiezingen. En in Kenia hebben burgers en vredesraden geholpen het geweld na de verkiezingen in 2008 in te dammen en erger te voorkomen.
