Back in London after a three-month visit to Kenya, Dr Alan Channer, Director of the movie An African Answer, presented a screening of the film in the London centre of Initiatives of Change on 1 March. ‘Banks and boardrooms need ‘iconic leaders’ of personal integrity if the world is to avoid further economic crises, says Paul Moore, former head of group regulatory risk at Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS). The financial crisis of 2008 was caused by ‘failures in organisational culture and ethics’ rather than technical failures, he told a Greencoat Forum on ‘capitalism towards the common good: regulation or culture and character?’ held in the London centre of Initiatives of Change on 23 November.

Declarando que a Terra não é uma “despensa ilimitada”, o Reverendo James Jones, Bispo de Liverpool, apelou por uma ação “a nível pessoal, paroquial e político” para enfrentar os desafios da mudança climática. Declaring that the earth is not a ‘limitless larder’, The Rt Rev James Jones, Bishop of Liverpool, called for action on a ‘personal, parochial and political level’ to tackle the challenges of climate change. He urged that this should be an electoral issue. He was speaking in London in the week just before the Copenhagen summit on climate change.
